From 20 Years on the Tools to Helping You Do It Yourself

I’ve spent over 20 years working in the building industry. In that time,I’ve seen just about everything—big jobs, small jobs, emergency call-outs, and plenty of situations where people have been left frustrated, stressed, and out of pocket.

One thing that has always stood out to me is how many of those call-outs are for small, simple issues. Leaking taps, faulty valves, basic pipe repairs—jobs that, with the right knowledge and a bit of confidence, most people could do themselves.

That’s where the idea for The Plumbing School came from.

A Personal Reason Behind It All

This isn’t just business for me—it’s personal. My own gran was ripped off several times by tradespeople. She was charged over the odds for simple jobs, sometimes for work that didn’t even need doing. Seeing that happen stuck with me.

It made me realise how many people are in the same position—relying on someone else because they don’t have the knowledge or confidence to tackle things themselves.

I wanted to change that. So I created The Plumbing School to give people real, hands-on skills. Not theory. Not sitting in a classroom all day. Proper, practical experience that you can take home and actually use. It’s About Confidence as Much as Skill.

What I’ve found is that most people aren’t incapable—they just lack confidence. Once you understand how plumbing systems work, and you’ve physically done the job yourself, everything changes. That fear disappears. You stop second-guessing yourself. You stop reaching for the phone every time something goes wrong. That’s what I’m passionate about—helping people feel capable.

Whether you’re a homeowner wanting to save money, a landlord looking to handle maintenance yourself, or someone just curious about getting into plumbing, the courses are designed to give you that confidence.

Learn Real-Life Skills That Actually Matter.

Everything we teach is based on real-life situations. The kind of problems I’ve been called out to for years:

  • Leaks under sinks

  • Radiator issues

  • Replacing taps and valves

  • Pipe repairs after drilling through a wall

You’re not just watching—you’re doing. That hands-on approach is what makes the difference. It’s what transforms DIY from something intimidating into something you’re comfortable with.

And the benefit? You save money. You gain independence. And you know the job’s been done properly.

Growing Something Bigger.

Along the way, I met Liverpool School of Plastering and connected with Ben, who shares the same mindset when it comes to hands-on training.

Working together has opened the door to offering more skills, more opportunities, and a better overall experience for anyone wanting to learn practical trades.

This is just the beginning of building something bigger than a single course.

Looking Ahead

One of the things I’m really excited about is the future. I want to start offering opportunities for school students to come in and learn in a completely different environment—something more practical, more engaging, and more real than a typical classroom.

Not everyone learns best from books. Some people need to get hands-on to really understand things.

If we can give young people that chance early on, it could open doors they didn’t even know existed.

Support That Doesn’t Stop After the Course.

One thing I make sure of is that the support doesn’t end when the course finishes. Everyone who comes through The Plumbing School can message me on WhatsApp anytime—for advice, guidance, or just a bit of reassurance before tackling a job. No extra cost. No pressure. Just proper support when you need it.

Final Thoughts

For me, this isn’t just about plumbing. It’s about helping people feel more confident in their own homes. It’s about saving money, avoiding being taken advantage of, and learning skills that genuinely make a difference in everyday life. If I can stop even a few people going through what my gran did, then it’s all been worth it.

And if you walk away from one of my courses feeling capable, confident, and ready to take on your own jobs—that’s exactly why I built The Plumbing School.
